So I often spend a lot of time dabbling into the fine art of crying uncontrollably over Music. For years these have mostly been selective songs, collected from various discographies from artists all over the World.

But Damn it holy fucking shit Sleep Token is not good for my poor tear ducts.

It started about two years ago, when I randomly overheard my then best friend talking to a friend about this song they just discovered, and how it "made them feel unholy things".

This song, was Jaws.

I didn't give much thought to it initially, but decided to check it out anyways. I was doing a lot of rp at the time, and while writing a 4000 word essay on a character stabbing another violently I had put on Jaws as background noise. Aaaand than the Chorus happened:

Show me those pretty white jaws

Show me where the delicate stops

Show me what you've lost

And why you're always taking it slow

Show me what wounds you've got show me love

So I don't know about you, but this didn't make me horny, it broke me. I am of the conviction that Trauma makes you get a perspective on life, that either elevates experiencing emotion, or completely destroys it. When I heard Vessel sing these words I straight up froze in my seat and stopped writing.

I just listened. For... An hour? The same song in a loop. To me this was a song about a person attempting to rebuild another from the trauma they experienced - most likely sexual. A song of a human being falling for the deep rooted scars left in the fragile minds of a stranger.

The person who is traumatized is coping with it in their own ways, the "eyes of a predator" not referring to lust, but the natural desire to protect oneself.

When vessel talks of "prey unattended" he is referring to the victim left behind by their abuser. But this lyrical Persona Vessel represents here is in no way a saviour in the sense of trying to heal their muse, it feels more like someone trying to capitalize on the trauma to further their own cause.

Now I do not claim that my interpretation of the song is right or better than another. But it is how I heard it, that day. That's what my ears picked up and my brain read into it.

And this... Hit. Like a truck. I was sucked into Sundowning and TPWBYT (with TMBTE not released yet) and didn't stop listening for many hours. I cried my eyes out multiple times, Atlantic, Alkaline, Bloodsport, Higher, Levitate, the Love you want. All of this was something i hadn't yet experienced.

Fast forward around half a year and its TMBTE time! The album released and my emotions were shattered by Chokehold and Are you really ok. I sobbed a bit, but I wasn't hit as hard as back when I first listened. And than, Ascencionism happened.

It broke me.

I was crying like I never had before, releasing more emotion than I thought I had in me. Another song that I instantly, deeply connected to my trauma. A hatred for my abuser I still find whenever I hear vessel scream:

You're gonna watch me ascend

A desire to payback, but most importantly the desire to disappear into nothingness. I was numb for the Title track. It was only when Euclid ended that I realised I had found the band that I would connect my mental health to all over again. Just like 2012 when I first discovered MCR and Fallout Boy. I was stumped and honestly... Happy.

Fast forward another year, I am writing this about a week after their show in Nürnberg. My second time there and I can inly say one thing.

I worship Sleep.

He's a little shit that causes problems and pisses people off for the heck of it. A bit of an edgelord (is that an understatement?), rude, vulgar, and extremely tough to crack if you want him in friendlier stages. Good luck. He's not going to make it easy for you.

Points of interest:

He has various verses, some things may change depending on what verse things are in. Details in his design are important and have stories behind them. In his main verses, he has extra strengthened abilities and a little extra chaotic surprise, sometimes. He has a lot of anger issues and is really shit at dealing with other emotions, often turning them into anger, too, because he doesn't know how else to handle things. He likes to think of himself as a villain, but really he's more like an anti-hero. And he's got a whole revenge case he's trying to deal out. He's got some emotional issues that he refuses to talk about, and others he will just spill because he likes to talk about himself. And he's got trust issues.

What they’ve been up to recently:

Well, this varies for people and verses. Things won't be following the same paths for everyone he interacts with. In in his main f.c5 verse, he somehow got himself in a position where he's gotta help protect the Seeds, because of the relationship he ended up in with Jacob. Everything in the B.L verses kinda got put on hold, but these days its after his Arena fell. A vampire verse, in the f.c5 land, has been distressing him. Bloody City (original) verse is getting more developments lately (yeehaw). Depends on what version you wanna deal with, really.

Where to find them:

In general modern times, usually Chicago. In the borderlands, usually Pandora. In F.C3, on Rook Islands, hanging with the pirates. In F.C5, Hope County, usually in Jacob's region. Frontier, the pirate is in Montreal in the company of Mr. Grant and Mr. Pond.

Current plans:

Plans? What are plans? We'll have to see what unfolds. Anything could happen.

Desired interactions:

Enemies to awkward found family member, enemies/rivals, slow burns of any kind of relationship (because its almost always a slow burn with him), helping him learn to cook maybe? (his whole fear of stoves and fire issue man), dad bird dad bird dad bird dad bird (has an accidentally adopted daughter in some verses btw), etc.

Uh, do you like problematic little shits? Do you like conflict? Stories are boring without conflict, after all. And it makes the good times so much more worth it, you know? OK, so, for anyone following me, here's what you're gonna get:

This blog is pretty much all FFXIV. You might catch me talking about FFXI once in a blue moon though.

I have two three FFXIV characters. My main, S'era Phemi on Balmung, and my alts, Hisui Emeru on Hyperion and Tiara Tym on Mateus. I play S'era like 95% of the time. Hisui mostly exists for me to play through the game with JP voice acting and because I really dig Au Ra animations, and Tiara cause I wanted a Viera.

As far as personality goes:

He is not a nice person. While he seems rather laid back and as if nothing could ever bother him, he will talk down on you, use you for his own advantage, sell you out if he thinks the offer is good enough. He will manipulate and use you to his whims. His constant smile and ability to wrap words around makes it almost impossible to discern his true feeling. Truthfully, he might not be able to ID them himself. He can be nice and he will be if he thinks it will help him win you over.

But if you want more about how he is, you will have to look up the Information tag (or read old rps).

A very short breakdown on rules:

8. Did you have a muse you tried to play, but didn't feel connected to?

Yes and no? I haven't actually tried to pick up any canons, I've mostly stuck with ocs but like.... You ever have those ocs that you like conceptually but they just.... Stay as stiff as a cardboard box? All my ocs start out that way and then slowly develop, but sometimes they just.... Don't like me. I think my cadash was one of those. And my qunari. Granted sometimes it's also because my energy is so focused on others, like nova and faolan, but... Yeah that's kind of it.

30. What are your favourite rp tropes to play?

Honestly? There are so many. I think it's obvious I do love romance, so a lot of them lean in that direction. I'm a sucker for things like almost-kiss, the "because I love you!' trope, reciprocal hurt comfort and bandaging of wounds.... Also the concept of slow burn ( but ADHD go brrr so it's never actually a slow burn ) and a sucker for learning to trust. Perceived enemies to lover is also my jam. Honestly, there isn't a lot of tropes I don't like? I'm not big on like. Heavy angst with no comfort, betrayal, love triangles and such but... Idk I'm a softie.

36: do you feel similar to your muse in any way?

I'm gonna do this for Asha because Asha is more developed than ivvie, but there are absolutely some areas where I project myself onto her. For one, Asha cares so much about people. She is an aggressive friend and once she likes you, she will make sure you take care of yourself, fight you if you talk bad about yourself.... She will fight the gods if they try to hurt you. And I know for a fact that I've probably threatened to eat or fight someone on your behalf, as well as on other people's behalf. I love people aggressively.

Also her struggles with her magic are a parallel I've had with my neurodivergencies. Knowing you're different when you're young but being gaslit into believing it's not true, being ignored in favour of a sibling a few years younger than you... Realising as an adult why you always felt different and wondering how nobody saw it, but because your sibling was more obvious than you, they got the support they needed and you slipped through the cracks. It was unintentional, but it's pretty obvious.

Also just... Asha feeling like a fish out of water, and being uncertain of her footing and not knowing how to deal is peak autistic experience and while I don't know if she is 100% autistic and ADHD, because I am it obviously will come across in how I express myself through my writing. It's inevitable. How does one write a neurotypical mind when one doesn't even know what that means?

✖ You have such an amazing John, and I kinda feel bad that I haven't been able to read the comics or had access to the movie. I don't have that much experience with RP, and on other platforms no one had ever gone into that much detail like you do sometimes. I feel like I won't be able to write enough or write a strong enough response. I see selective and I feel like I might not be up to your standards. I have anxiety about this sort of thing a lot. ​Real talk. I secured a URL for this blog within reading like Idek. Six issues of Hellblazer. I was basically in love within an issue or two like ��wow he’s awful. I love him.” Now mind you, I’d already been RPing for a couple years on tumblr. Honestly though, my first placeholder url ( experimental-user, which I had fully intended to change when I started threading but kept for a brief time because it made sense to me as vaguely fitting ) should have said enough that I was a bit insecure writing him at first. Anyway, I was reading the comic for the first five months I wrote John, the main Vertigo series, graphic novels, specials, miniseries, and for the record I torrented all of it. Also read Justice League Dark, but we don’t talk about that because it was abysmal and John’s characterization was a fucking mess ( but they did Zee worse, so that’s a thing ). I learned John as I went, to be quite honest. While I can’t say if I made any missteps in my characterization in the early months, I know there was a lot of hesitation on my part. 

My point is this: We’re all learning as writers and RPers. The only reason I’m a competent writer is because I’ve been doing so for years. Certainly not all of it has been RP and I feel like it showed in my earliest forays on tumblr. There were communication problems and stubbornness on my end because I wasn’t as good as improvising as I thought I was. It took me a long while to get to the point I’m at and there are still moments I’m like “wtf am I doing? lol”. Now admittedly, am I good for an uncertain newbie? Signs point to who the fuck knows because I can be very serious and not fun at all. I’ll admit to getting very nervous when someone is intimidated by me because I never mean to do that to anyone. Honestly, I rarely think there’s anything that special about my writing. It swings between blunt as a head shot and vaguely pretentious. More the latter than I care to admit. I’m selective because yes I concede to having standards but they’re not like…super high. I just want partners to be coherent and respectful and I like the way they portray their muse. That and I rarely RP with doubles due to my compulsion toward world building and I can’t continuously compartmentalize versions. I’m just not that good, I suppose. Lastly, I’m slow and I work. I know everyone has their own speeds so I want everyone to be copacetic with the fact that I may not always reply to a thread within 48 hours but that doesn’t mean I’m dropping it. ( and of course I have my people that I generate high volumes of threads with and I don’t want people to think I just always stick with my clique, there’s just a lot going on behind the scenes. )

Anyway, this is getting to be rambly and a bit of a downer(?) when I want it to be a pep talk or whatever. I’m gonna leave you with with the fact that you can read ​Hellblazer for free here. The site is ugly, sorry, but it’s less a hassle than seeking out torrents. Side stories and specials you’ll have to search on the site separately. The movie streams from time to time on Netflix or Hulu. It’s not right now, tho. So Idek what to tell you with that. There are a lot of free streaming sites that you can probably find it on, tho, if you know where to look. I personally caved and bought it on iTunes. Their digital copies are generally about the same price as a DVD. That being said I don’t insist people read the comic or watch the movie to RP with me. It just helps. The reason I am so vocal about being based on the comic is due to the popularity of the TV series and the fact that I don’t have anything to do with it. I don’t want people to get it twisted, you know?
